Rosso di Montalcino Castello Tricerchi 2022

Castello Tricerchi's Rosso di Montalcino is a tribute to Tuscan tradition, a wine that tells of Sangiovese in its most authentic essence. Intense ruby red in colour, it is complex on the nose with fragrances of strawberry, cherry and delicate spicy and floral hints. In the mouth it is harmonious, with elegant tannins and a long, savoury and mineral finish. Perfect with pasta with meat sauce, game, roasts and mature cheeses, it best expresses the Montalcino territory

ROSSO DI MONTALCINO CASTELLO TRICERCHI 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Rosso di Montalcino Castello Tricerchi represents afresh and flavoursome expression of the terroir, of outstanding typicality. We are on the northern side of the Montalcino district, characterised by slightly cooler temperatures than in other parts of the area, a factor that contributes to the dynamism of the wines produced here. This is the context in which the Squarcia family operates, today represented by Emanuele and Tommaso, who are committed to continuing the centuries-old tradition of the estate.

Castello Tricerchi Rosso di Montalcino is a 100% Sangiovese Grosso from vines about 20 years old grown on medium-textured soils consisting of clay and sand and characterised by a west and south-west exposure. Manual harvesting of the grapes is followed by traditional red vinification through alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks accompanied by 25 days of maceration on the skins. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is racked into 20 hectolitre Slavonian oak casks, containers in which the ageing phase of 9-12 months takes place before final bottling. The final marketing takes place no earlier than at least 4 further months of resting in the bottle.

To the eye, Castello Tricerchi's Rosso di Montalcino expresses a luminous ruby red colour. The nose has seductive scents of small red fruits, such as cherry, black cherry and strawberry, surrounded by floral hints and delicate spicy notes. The taste is very intense and balanced, characterised by a well-present but elegant tannic texture that accompanies the persistent sapid-mineral trail on the finish. The producer himself suggests pairing his Rosso di Montalcino with medium-aged cheeses, tasty earthy first courses or white meat dishes.
