Podere Ranieri's Rosso Toscano 'Il Senziente' is a red wine composed of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese, with the desire that each of these grape varieties can show, in the combination with the other two, its character, its history, its expressiveness. On the palate it is enveloping, warm and velvety, and on the nose it releases fruity aromas accompanied by pleasant spicy nuances: a perfect wine to pair with Tuscan dishes!
Podere Ranieri introduces Rosso Toscano 'Il Senziente,' a bottle that can sum up the estate's passionate and artisanal philosophy. The very appellation expresses the Ranieri family's idea of wine, according to which this magical beverage should be alive and "sentient" precisely. In order to best interpret the territory of the Tuscan Maremma, Michele Ranieri has chosen to combine the traditional Sangiovese grape variety with the international Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, which are perfectly adapted to the soil and climate conditions of the region.
'Il Senziente' Rosso Toscano Podere Ranieri comes from a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese grown in accordance with organic farming principles. The vines are located 60 meters above sea level in the Massa Marittima area, where the soils are composed of silt and sand with significant presence of clay and skeleton. In the winery, freshly hand-picked grapes in crates are mounded in stainless steel tanks for temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation, accompanied by a few weeks of maceration on the skins. Once the fermentation process is complete, the mass is racked into 300-liter tonneaux where it remains to mature for about 12 months, followed by an additional year of bottle aging.
Podere Ranieri's Rosso Toscano 'Il Senziente' has an intense ruby red color. Hints of red fruits, jammy strawberries, plum and herbs overlap on the nose along with nuances of black pepper and tobacco. The warm, soft palate reveals excellent freshness and silky tannins that drive the long, savory spicy persistence. A red that pairs excellently with traditional dishes of the Tuscan Maremma such as tortelli with wild boar ragout.
