SAINT-EMILION 'SULFITE FREE' CHATEAU BARRAIL SAINT ANDRÉ 2021 DESCRIPTION

The Saint-Émilion "Sulfite Free" from Château Barrail Saint André, produced by the Vignobles Coutant estate, is a label born from the desire of Agnés and her son Damien, owners of several restaurants in Bordeaux, to offer their customers a healthy and genuine wine made without the addition of sulfites, neither during the vinification process nor before bottling. The result is a surprising red wine that captivates with its ability to directly express the best characteristics of a pure Merlot, with fragrant and crunchy fruit, rich in still perfectly intact primary aromas, and with a pleasant youthful verve, direct and immediate.

The "Sulfite Free" Saint-Émilion Château Barrail Saint André from Vignobles Coutant originates in the Saint-Étienne de Lisse area, which is located within the renowned territory of Saint-Émilion, a legendary place for lovers of great Merlots. The estate covers a total of about 15 hectares in an area with an exceptionally mild climate, thanks to the proximity of the vast estuary of the Gironde from the Atlantic Ocean. The Merlot grapes come from a plot on the estate cultivated in an area characterized by the presence of limestone-clay soils particularly suitable for viticulture. The clusters are selected in the vineyard, ensuring that only perfectly healthy grapes are brought to the cellar, an essential prerequisite for carrying out a vinification process without using sulfites. At the end of fermentation, with the classic maceration on the skins, the wine rests in stainless steel tanks for several months before being bottled.

The red Saint-Émilion "Sulfite Free" Château Barrail Saint André from Vignobles Coutant is a wine of extraordinary drinkability, very versatile on the table and suitable for pairings with pasta with meat ragù or main courses based on white meats. In the glass, it has a dark and luminous ruby-red colour. On the nose, it offers intense and exuberant aromas reminiscent of cherry, blueberry, currant, and black cherry, with hints of aromatic herbs and undergrowth. On the palate, it is pleasantly fruity, with juicy flavours and fine tannins. The taste is harmonious and rich, clear and pure, with a fresh finish that returns notes of ripe red fruit. It is a wine to be consumed young, within two or three years of the harvest.
