Sauvignon Blanc 'Suòlo' Duca di Salaparuta 2021

The Sauvignon Blanc ‘Suòlo 3’ from the renowned Sicilian winery Duca di Salaparuta is a balanced and refined interpretation of this prestigious international white grape variety. The name of the label comes from the fact that the grapes used for its production are sourced from Soil number 3 of the Suor Marchesa Estate. This property, located in central-eastern Sicily in the municipality of Riesi, was acquired by Duca di Salaparuta in 2002 due to its excellent exposure, the abundance of limestone in the soil, and the particularly sunny and breezy microclimate.

The Sauvignon Blanc Duca di Salaparuta ‘Suòlo 3’ is made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown on calcareous and clayey soils at an altitude of 300–350 meters above sea level. The grapes, benefiting from a cool northern exposure, are hand-harvested in crates during the early morning hours to preserve their aromatic profile. This is followed by destemming, cold pre-fermentation maceration, gentle pressing, and alcoholic fermentation, which takes place partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in barriques. The subsequent maturation phase lasts several months and occurs on the lees in the same types of containers.

The ‘Suòlo 3’ Sauvignon Blanc from the Sicilian winery Duca di Salaparuta features a straw-yellow color with bright greenish reflections. Its aromas range from floral notes of jasmine and white broom to hints of exotic fruits, citrus, and spices such as vanilla and pink pepper. On the palate, it is remarkably fresh and of admirable complexity, with an elegant and well-balanced progression that finishes with typical varietal aromatic returns enhanced by a savory tone.
