Sauvignon 'Kofl' Kurtatsch 2022

Sauvignon 'Kofl' by Kurtatsch an impulsive, intense wine with backbone The name 'Kofl', which in the Alpine linguistic area designates a rounded peak, recalls the steepness of the slopes, which are primarily responsible for the wine's character. Notes of exotic fruits, gooseberries and kiwi fruit recall the varietal traits of Sauvignon, to which are added hints of minerals and field grasses, typical of the mountain terroir. Dynamic on the palate, with great freshness, it is warm and square-structured: try it with poultry

SAUVIGNON 'KOFL' KURTATSCH 2022 DESCRIPTION

Sauvignon 'Kofl' is a bottle with an exotic dimension produced by the South Tyrolean cooperative Cantina Kurtatsch. This white wine belongs to the 'Terroir' line, the winery's top selection of labels made exclusively in the best vintages from grapes from high vocation vineyards, cultivated with low yields and strongly linked to the territory. As for the name 'Kofl', this derives from the homonymous term for a rounded peak, from which the name of the Penon-Kofl vineyard, located in the hamlet of Penone, also originates.

The Sudtirol 'Kofl' Cantina Kurtatsch Sauvignon is produced from pure Sauvignon Blanc grapes from the Penon-Kofl plot, which is characterised by a very steep slope, an altitude between 450 and 600 metres above sea level and an exposure to the full east. The microclimate is also characterised by considerable temperature fluctuations between day and night, while the soils, which are sandy and gravelly, are rich in dolomite and quartz. In the cellar, the grapes are vinified through minimal skin maceration, combined with alcoholic fermentation of the must in stainless steel tanks and in large oak casks at a controlled temperature. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is matured for 12 months on the fine lees in cement containers.

The 'Kofl' Alto Adige Sauvignon of Cantina Kurtatsch has a golden yellow colour with amber highlights. The bouquet expresses intense notes of passion fruit followed by herbaceous hints of sage and hints of gooseberry, kiwi and elderflower. The taste is complex, broad and round, with beautiful freshness and marked aromaticity, and a pleasant savoury-mineral trail on the finish.
