SAUVIGNON 'PICOL' LIS NERIS 2021 DESCRIPTION

Lis Neris "Picol" Sauvignon was born in the Isonzo Valley, specifically in San Lorenzo Isontino in the province of Gorizia. The Pecorari family founded this business in 1879, indulging their passion and love for the world of viticulture. The working philosophy has always been to value the intrinsic characteristics of the Gorizia area, a land traditionally devoted to the production of quality whites: human labour here is geared toward respecting the ecosystem surrounding the vineyards so that the raw material can grow flourishing juicy. Today Alvaro Pecorari runs the historic family business, maintaining great results in the winery and projecting his work also on international markets.

The vineyards of Sauvignon "Picol" of Lis Neris grow on soils mainly composed of the traditional "claps", surface pebbles that retain solar heat and transmit it to the roots, contributing to a complete ripening of the grapes. The large temperature range between day and night ensures excellent expressive power of the white wines: the bora from the north is the architect of this. Cultivation is organic: the soil is fertilized with organic compost, and chemical weeding is abolished in favour of integrated pest management. Grapes are picked by hand with careful selection of the bunches in the vineyard; in the cellar, alcoholic fermentation is in steel. Matures in steel and wood for 11 months with recurrent bâtonnage. Stays in a bottle for 12 months.

The colour of Lis Neris' Sauvignon "Picol" is a straw yellow with bright highlights and a slight greenish. The bouquet of aromas is reminiscent of citrus fruits such as citron, kiwi, passion fruit and elderflower; on the palate, it is balanced in overall structure with good flavour and freshness on the finish for a curious drink. In pairing, it is recommended with steamed fish dishes, shellfish and crustaceans as a condiment for first courses; also curious with fresh cow's milk cheeses. Excellent to accompany grilled fish by the sea in summer, savouring a product that is the result of traditional grape processing, and attentive to respect for nature and its fruits.

When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied white wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
