The Sauvignon Blanc produced by the Friulian winery Villa de Puppi is a faithful interpretation of the grape variety, marked by intense, rich aromas and a clear mineral freshness. It comes from a family-owned estate, which works with great passion and meticulous care, aiming to make elegant labels with a traditional face. The winemaking process is conducted with extreme simplicity, indulging the natural transformation of grapes into wine. An approach based on the minimum necessary intervention, which allows to propose a genuine wine, capable of interpreting with transparency the peculiarities of a great terroir.
Sauvignon wine is one of the flagship whites of Villa de Puppi, which owns an estate divided into two estates, one of 10 hectares near the hilly area of Rosazzo and one of 20 hectares in Moimocco, near Cividale del Friuli, which also houses the winery. The soils are composed of flysch or ponca in Friulian, a stratification of limestone marls and sandstones of very ancient marine origin, or alluvial pebbles in the flatter areas. All work in the vineyard, up to the harvest, is done with artisanal care. Sauvignon Blanc is made with two different harvests, one slightly early to preserve freshness and one at full ripeness to achieve rich aromas. After gentle pressing, the must ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and the wine is then aged for a few months in stainless steel, without malolactic fermentation.
Villa de Puppi's white Sauvignon is a classic and territorial expression of the famous French grape variety, which was imported during the 19th century to these lands and immediately adapted very well to the local soil and climate conditions, so much so that it became one of the flagship varieties of the region. Bright light yellow with brilliant greenish highlights, it seduces with a refined bouquet, with vegetal aromas of herbs, medicinal herbs, sage, boxwood, tomato leaf, hints of citrus, white peach and tropical fruit. The palate is intense and rich, with fruity aromas, a deep and aromatic sip, well balanced by freshness and sapidity typical of the terroir of the Colli Orientali.
