SAUVIGNON 'WINKL' CANTINA TERLANO 2023 DESCRIPTION

Amidst the hills that stretch at the foot of the majestic South Tyrolean Alps comes Cantina Terlano's Sauvignon Blanc 'Winkl', a label that well reflects the characteristic freshness and minerality bestowed by both the grape variety and the terroir. Since as far back as 1956, the renowned winery Cantina Terlano has been vinifying Sauvignon Blanc in purity, and over time it has managed to get to know and master this variety, achieving very high levels of quality and establishing itself as one of the top performers in Italy.

Cantina Terlano 'Winkl' Sauvignon Blanc is a pure expression of the grape variety of the same name grown on light, lean soils composed of sand and clay on quartz rock subsoil. The vines, located between 280 and 580 meters above sea level, face south-southwest on steep hillsides of up to 70 percent slope. Following manual harvesting and careful selection, the clusters are subjected to gentle pressing, and the resulting must is first allowed to settle naturally and then set off for alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The subsequent maturation period lasts for 7-8 months and takes place on the lees for 80% of the mass in steel and the remainder in large wooden barrels. The masses are finally blended before bottling.

In the glass, the Alto Adige Sauvignon Blanc 'Winkl' Cantina Terlano takes on a bright straw yellow colour with greenish hues. Characteristic aromas of sage, citrus, apricot, elderflower and boxwood flowers describe the olfactory range, enhanced by balsamic puffs and pleasant mineral notes of chalk. The palate is agile and elegant, equipped with a tasty savoury sensation that rests on the fresh, mineral finish, with excellent persistence.

When to open
To enjoy it at its best, we recommend you to let the wine 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied white wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
Longevity
You can easily leave it in your cellar for 4-5 years
