Marco Sara's Schioppettino is a red wine that represents this typically Friulian grape variety in a flowing key. The nose is vegetal with hints of wild herbs, berries and black pepper. On the palate it proves vital, fresh and with a spicy finish
Marco Sara's Schioppettino impeccably combines the typical profile of the Friulian grape variety, made of pepper and vegetal references, with a smooth and highly enjoyable interpretation. Marco Sara is a striking testimony of how new generations taking over the reins of family activities can keep intact a strong connection with tradition, implementing it and managing to achieve a personal style of great finesse. A reality that is, therefore, to all intents and purposes young, since Marco has been at the helm of the winery since 2000, but immediately marked by clear and precise ideas, so much so that all the vineyards have been converted to organic, so as to preserve intact expressiveness and vitality. A real reference for the Colli Orientali Friulani area, moved by a continuous spirit of improvement and constant growth. The path traced is very bright, and we, like all artisanal wine enthusiasts, follow it with great attention.
Schioppettino wine is made from pure grapes of the vine of the same name, from vines between 20 and 60 years old, and resting on clay soil rich in marl and sandstone. In the vineyard, as already mentioned, organic farming was chosen, excluding the use of any chemical or synthetic substances and helping only with a little copper and sulfur. In the cellar, the approach is consistent and proceeds with spontaneous alcoholic fermentations and 20-day maceration in steel containers, the liquid ages 12 months in barriques.
Sara Marco Schioppettino shows itself in its typical bright and intense ruby guise. The nose is a riot of black pepper, currant, raspberry and vegetal references, sketching a picture at once fresh and woody. On tasting, the liquid reveals itself to be lean, dry and extremely flowing, endowed with a disarming drinkability also due to a timely contribution of freshness and savoriness. A wine that predicts finesse to brute force. Sense of proportion.
