'Skin Contact Zizifredo' Frederic Cossard 2022

Frederic Cossard's 'Skin Contact Zizifredo' is a very fine macerated white wine, a 'sui generis' wine for a Burgundian winery. Grapes are purchased from skilled artisanal winemakers and then vinified by Cossard's skilled hand. The result is a successful experiment: intense citrus hints meet intriguing aromas of black tea and saltiness on the nose. The palate has slight tannicity, surprising savoriness and plenty of juice, making for a sip that is always fine, fresh and highly persistent. Extravagant but very classy

'SKIN CONTACT ZIZIFREDO' FREDERIC COSSARD 2022 DESCRIPTION

The 'Skin Contact Zizifredo' by Burgundian producer Frederic Cossard of Domaine de Chassorney is a white wine macerated with an absolutely unique personality, at times extravagant, crafted from an unprecedented blend of Grenache Blanc and Muscat d'Alexandrie, with the latter representing a synonym for Zibibbo, the viticultural symbol of the island of Pantelleria. This vin de négoce, an expression indicating a wine produced with purchased grapes, arises from Frederic's desire to experiment, as for the 'Zizifredo' he acquires the bunches from trusted winemaker friends in southern France. The curious name of this label recalls the "Fred Zizi," a very popular aperitif in the early 1930s, forming a play on words with Frederic's nickname: Fredo.

Frederic Cossard's 'Skin Contact Zizifredo' is derived from a blend of Grenache Blanc and Zibibbo grapes, vinified through extended skin maceration. In particular, alcoholic fermentation is entrusted to indigenous yeasts only and takes place between stainless steel tanks and concrete containers. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is aged for 9 months in concrete eggs and finally bottled without filtration and without any addition of sulfites.

Visually, Frederic Cossard's 'Skin Contact Zizifredo' strikes with its intense and sunny amber appearance. The aromatic spectrum is rich and engaging, defined by notes of orange zest, syrupy peach, apricot, quince, wildflowers, aromatic herbs, and black tea, with hints of iodine in the background. The palate is savory and structured, with delicate tannins accompanied by a pronounced citrusy freshness that gives a lively and juicy dimension to the wine. On the persistent finish, fruity and floral sensations perceived on the nose return.

When to open
To enjoy an artisanal wine at its best, we recommend you to let it 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied orange wines which require a minimum oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
Longevity
You can cellar it for over 5 years
