SPUMANTE METODO CLASSICO BRUT '470' TENUTA DI CASEO - TOMMASI 2018 DESCRIPTION

Tenuta di Caseo – Tommasi presents the Spumante Metodo Classico Brut ‘470’, a label with a loose and refreshing drink, yet not devoid of complexity. The Tommasi family's adventure in the Oltrepò Pavese area began in 2014 with the Tenuta di Caseo project, when the family acquired the historic property dating back to the 13th century, including vineyards and forests. With this venture, winemaker Giancarlo Tommasi took on the challenge of producing a great Pinot Nero, both still and, especially, sparkling.

The ‘470’ Tenuta di Caseo – Tommasi Spumante Metodo Classico Brut is made solely from Pinot Nero grapes grown at an altitude of 470 meters above sea level, hence the name of the bottle. In particular, the vines have an average age of 20 years and grow on clay-rich soils with active limestone. The grape harvest takes place in the second half of August and is followed by gentle pressing, with the resulting free-run juice being conveyed into stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation for 10-12 days at a controlled temperature of 16°C. Subsequently, the sparkling base is bottled with the addition of tirage syrup for bottle fermentation according to the Metodo Classico, paired with 36 months of aging on the lees. The final operation consists of disgorging and the subsequent Brut dosage of the wine.

The Spumante Metodo Classico Brut ‘470’ from Tenuta di Caseo – Tommasi is intense straw yellow in color with fine and persistent effervescence. On the nose, pleasant notes of white flesh fruit are perceived, accompanied by floral and citrus hints and memories of bread crust. The palate, fresh and lively, is characterized by a persistent fragrant and mineral finish.
