Syrah "Henri" from the Aosta Valley winery Anselmet is an interesting version of this extraordinary red grape variety native to the Rhone Valley. In the cool, sunny exposures among the high peaks of the Aosta Valley Alps, the Syrah grape variety has found favorable conditions to give excellent wines, made with handcrafted care and passion by one of the region's most highly rated vigneron. The result is an intense and spicy red, with the characteristic freshness that is the hallmark of all mountain wines.
The "Henri" wine was born in the Vereytaz hamlet of Villeneuve, not far from Aosta. It is in this territory with unique characteristics that Giorgio Anselmet's estate is located. The vineyards occupy about 7 hectares, divided into numerous small parcels, located at an altitude between 780 and 830 meters above sea level, on moraine soils of gravel and sand. The beautiful sunny and windy exposures and the presence of significant temperature swings between day and night temperatures allow the Syrah grapes to ripen with rich aromatic concentration. Anselmet's style tends to make the most of the varietal characteristics, with very delicate winemaking processes that respect the raw material and a very discreet use of wood. Fermentation takes place in steel, and the wine matures for 10 months in barriques before bottling.
"Henri" Anselmet is a red wine with a territorial personality. An interpretation of Syrah in the sign of freshness, finesse and expressive elegance, son of the terroir and climate of the Aosta Valley. It shows a ruby red color with precious and lively violet reflections. The nose expresses a bouquet of currants and small dark berry fruits, notes of licorice root herbs, chocolate, black pepper and oriental spices. The palate is rich and dynamic, with a long and satisfying sip, dense tannins and a pleasantly fresh finish.
