TANCREDI 'LIMITED EDITION D&G' DONNAFUGATA 2021 (PACKAGING) DESCRIPTION

Tancredi "Limited Edition D&G" by Donnafugata is a prestigious and exclusive label born from the collaboration between two great protagonists of Made in Italy: Donnafugata and Dolce&Gabbana. It is a special edition of one of the Sicilian winery's most famous bottles, the historic red Tancredi, born from an original blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Nero d'Avola and Tannat. A wine that expresses all the Mediterranean warmth of the Sicilian land and the values associated with creativity. The name is a tribute to one of the best-loved characters in the novel The Leopard by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa. Tancredi is the nephew of the Prince of Salina, played in Luchino Visconti's film of the same name by an unforgettable Alain Delon.

Tancredi 'Limited Edition D&G' is produced by one of the most important wineries on the Sicilian scene. Donnafugata has contributed to the renaissance of Sicilian wine and today manages several properties in some of the island's most vocated territories. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Nero d'Avola and Tannat grapes used to make Tancredi come from the vineyards of the Contessa Entellina estate in the heart of southwestern Sicily. The vineyards are cultivated at an altitude of between 200 and 500 metres above sea level and enjoy a Mediterranean climate, which allows the grapes to ripen well. Harvesting is done manually and the three varieties are vinified separately, with fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28°-30° C, with a maceration period on the skins of a couple of weeks. Before release, the wine matures for 12 months in oak barrels and at least 30 months in bottles.

Donnafugata's Tancredi "Limited Edition D&G" is a version of the Sicilian winery's great red dressed in special graphics created by Dolce&Gabbana. The label seeks to synthesise tradition and modernity, with a graphic combination of sinuous baroque lines and rigorous geometries and a chromatic use inspired by the aristocratic tones of blue and gold, combined with the new republican colours of red and green. In the goblet it is dark ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose is intense and elegant, with aromas of small dark berry fruits, currants, blueberries, mulberry, aromas of ripe red fruit, liquorice root, herbs and balsamic hints. The palate has a good structure, with a dense and evolved tannic texture and rich, complex and persistent aromas. Soft and harmonious, it closes on pleasantly fresh notes.
