Terrano Castelvecchio 2022

The Terrano is a typical territorial expression of the Carso. Castelvecchio accentuates its fresh and pleasant notes, which in its youth this label gives and easy to combine with any meal. It does not carry out malic fermentation, therefore it presents clear mineral hints, referable to iron, but also of small berries, come more, raspberries, blueberries, in a good condition with the tasting, very fresh, slightly tannic and pleasantly rough.

TERRANO CASTELVECCHIO 2022 DESCRIPTION

Terrano di Castelvecchio is an exuberant wine capable of winning over the souls of those unfamiliar with this particular Friulian grape variety. The essence on the nose recounts different nuances of fruit, even wild fruit, while the palate opens with a savoury, not too-intense sip, characterised by an interesting tannicity that makes for a solid and secure drink. This label testifies to the bond with the territory of a winery that has always told the story of the Karst lands with authenticity.

The Castelvecchio winery makes Terrano red wine from pure Terrano grapes, an indigenous variety of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The vines are located within the magnificent landscape of the Karst Natural Park and are rooted in a soil of limestone rocks and red soil rich in minerals. The Bora wind blows between the rows of vines, bringing significant temperature fluctuations between day and night. The grapes are softly pressed, and the must ferment in stainless steel containers. The final stage lasts a total of 9 months and takes place in stainless steel; at the end of this period, Terrano is ready to be bottled and released for sale.

Terrano Castelvecchio wine is revealed to the eye with an intense, concentrated ruby colour, marked by some slight reflections tending more towards violet. Fruit is the undoubted protagonist of the olfactory path that is outlined on the nose, declined with intense touches that wrap the nostrils in breadth. It enters the mouth with a medium-bodied sip, where one appreciates an evident mineral flavour enriched by a freshness and strong, marked tannin. An interesting wine also in the kitchen, which, when drunk young, also goes well with 'fatty' fish such as carp and eel.
