TORMENTA MANCIACIUMI 2023 DESCRIPTION

The 'Tormenta' from the Sicilian winery Manciaciumi is an artisanal red wine of remarkable momentum and dynamism, produced in a very limited edition. This label represents a dedication by Dario Sciuto, the soul of Manciaciumi, to his grandfather, who in the 1940s took the nickname 'Tormenta' because he used to ski on Mount Etna with his jacket open, appearing like a blizzard. Moreover, Dario's first encounter with the world of wine took place in his grandfather's vineyard, on the slopes of Europe's largest active volcano.

Manciaciumi 'Tormenta' is produced from a blend of red grapes cultivated in accordance with the dictates of organic farming on volcanic soil. Following harvesting, which is rigorously carried out by hand, the bunches are mash whole for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation, combined with about 15 days of carbonic maceration. The entire process then excludes the use of additives and invasive oenological aids.

In the goblet, the red wine 'Tormenta' from the Manciaciumi artisanal project displays a luminous ruby red guise with lively violet hues. The seductive olfactory panorama is described by hints of small red fruits, such as strawberries and cherries, and by evocative tones of Mediterranean scrub, with decisive mineral iodine and volcanic stone hints to complement them. On the palate, the brilliant freshness gives tension and fluidity to the development, accompanied by integrated tannin and a strong sapid-mineral imprint in an impressive finish, characterised by pleasant notes of blood orange. This is a red wine with an energetic personality, to be enjoyed at the table with first courses with meat sauce, red meat, roast or stewed, or with mature cheeses.

Bright ruby red with violet hues

Scent

Strawberry, cherry, sensations of Mediterranean scrub, touches of iodine and volcanic stone

Taste

Fresh, with good tension, flowing and with a mineral imprint

Temperature
16°-18°C
When to open
To enjoy it at its best, we recommend you to let the wine 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied red wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
Longevity
You can let it rest in the cellar quietly for 3-4 years
