The Trento Spumante Extra Brut 'Karl' from Terre del Lagorai is a crystal-clear expression of mountain Chardonnay. The volcanic and calcareous soils of the Valsugana give a mineral profile that lends personality to this fresh and drinkable wine. The nose is fresh and crisp, with fruit and white flowers introducing slight hints of pastry. With a vertical structure, the sip is sharp and elegant, perfect for aperitifs and appetisers
The wine reality Terre del Lagorai presents the Trento Spumante Extra Brut 'Karl', a label to be appreciated for its fine citrus and floral aromas. The objective of the founding members of the Terre del Lagorai project is to emphasise the oenological expression of eastern Trentino, in particular of Valsugana, an area highly suited to the production of sparkling wines, especially from Chardonnay grapes. Indeed, this celebrated white grape variety benefits from the area's peculiar climate, a factor behind the finesse and balance of local bubbles.
The 'Karl' Terre del Lagorai Trento Spumante Extra Brut is a Chardonnay in purity that comes from vineyards cultivated at an altitude of between 300 and 700 metres above sea level, on south-west-facing slopes characterised by considerable temperature swings between day and night. Once the grapes have been harvested, they are subjected to a gentle pressing, with the must thus obtained being conveyed into stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation and subsequent complete malolactic fermentation. For the sparkling phase, the base wine is bottled with the addition of the draught syrup, in accordance with the Metodo Classico, with at least 15 months of ageing on the lees in the bottle before disgorging and dosage.
On visual inspection, Spumante Trento Extra Brut 'Karl' di Terre del Lagorai has a straw-yellow appearance with a fine and persistent effervescence. On the nose, pleasant fruity and floral perceptions develop, reminiscent of apple and honeysuckle, followed by hints of lemon peel and slight hints of pastry given by prolonged contact with yeasts in the bottle. The taste shows good structure and body, as well as a nice freshness that contributes to the drinkable and direct progression.
