VALPOLICELLA BRIGALDARA 2022 DESCRIPTION

Valpolicella, produced by the Brigaldara winery, is the symbolic label of this magnificent hilly territory located northwest of the city of Verona. A land of very ancient traditions, already planted with vines in the early Roman period, it has jealously preserved its traditions and identity, thanks in part to the presence of a number of high-quality red grape varieties. The wines of Valpolicella have traversed the centuries, always relying on the vines of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and other local varieties, without giving in to the easy temptation to adopt the more famous international grape varieties. It is precisely because of fidelity to local customs that today we can enjoy great wines that authentically express terroir.

Valpolicella red wine comes from the San Floriano area, where Brigaldara cultivates a magnificent estate among the beautiful hills of Valpolicella. The Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes used to make Valpolicella come from the Marcellise and Brigaldara plots, which are cultivated at an altitude between 150 and 250 meters above sea level. These are old vines, 40 to 50 years old, grown using the Veronese pergola and Guyot systems, which are harvested by hand around the second half of September. Fermentation takes place in steel vats at a controlled temperature of 22-24 °C, with maceration on the skins, pumping over and délestage. Before bottling, the wine matures for 6 months in steel in order to preserve the varietal aromas of the grapes intact.

Valpolicella wine from the Verona-based Brigaldara winery is the perfect red to get to know the authentic face of the wines of the territory. If Ripasso and Amarone are Valpolicella's recent creations, their history and identity are identified above all with this label. In the glass, it is bright ruby red in colour. The olfactory profile gives intense aromas with notes of ripe cherries, small berries, morello cherries and delicate spicy hints. Flowing and agile on the palate, it is a medium-bodied, harmonious and lively red with fragrant, juicy fruit and fine tannins. The finish is pleasantly fresh and fruity.
