VALPOLICELLA RIPASSO CLASSICO SUPERIORE TOMMASI 2020 DESCRIPTION

Tommasi's Valpolicella Ripasso is a label in which elegance, balance and structure coexist sublimely. The elegance and balance of the blend obviously derive from the know-how of Tommasi, a leading name in Venetian viticulture that is a master at giving rise to bottles that are always punctual and precise. The good body that can be felt on the palate is due to both the aging period and the winemaking technique, in which the must re-ferments on the Amarone pomace to acquire more character. A product with which you always make a good impression: if you are uncertain about what to bring to a dinner party, choose it!

Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso originates from a harmonious blend made by the Tommasi winery between several native red grapes, specifically Corvina, present in the final blend with 70%, Rondinella and Corvinone. The harvest, strictly by hand, is carried out in late September and the must ferments in steel containers for 9 days. It is then re-fermented on the Amarone pomace for 12-13 days, with daily pumping over, following the typical Ripasso production process. It then ends with the aging phase, in which the wine remains to age for 15 months in large Slavonian oak barrels. After bottling, before release, it remains for another six months to mature in the bottle.

This Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso Tommasi reveals itself to the eye with a ruby red color, distinguished by light garnet-colored highlights in the rim. The nose is very well defined, being enveloped in a whirlwind of warm notes that move from dried flowers to spices and red fruit, including jam. In the mouth it is full-bodied, structured, with a concentrated sip that envelops the palate with a fresh, savory flavor; the tannic component is perfectly integrated. A label with which Tommasi ranks with excellent scores in the main Italian and international wine magazines.
