VALPOLICELLA SUPERIORE 'MITHAS' CAMERANI - CORTE SANT'ALDA 2018 DESCRIPTION

The Valpolicella Superiore 'Mithas' by Camerani - Corte Sant’Alda represents an expression of great depth and richness capable of revealing the full potential of the Mezzane di Sotto area. The Camerani family estate encompasses three brands: Adalia, Podere Castagnè, and, indeed, Corte Sant’Alda. In particular, Corte Sant’Alda represents the historic winery of Mezzane di Sotto, of which Marinella Camerani took the reins after succeeding her father in 1986, while the Adalia project was born in 2009 in the Val di Mezzane, a sunny and well-ventilated area of the Valpolicella. Finally, Podere Castagnè is a farm dedicated to hospitality and the production of wines from the Mezzane di Sotto region.

The Valpolicella Superiore Camerani - Corte Sant’Alda 'Mithas' is produced only in the best vintages, in highly variable quantities, starting from a blend of Corvina (40%), Corvinone (40%), and Rondinella (20%) grapes grown in accordance with the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. The vineyards are planted on shallow, stony, and limestone soils at an altitude of about 350 meters above sea level. The grapes are hand-harvested when slightly overripe and then destemmed in truncated cone-shaped vats of 40 hectoliters for spontaneous fermentation with about 20 days of maceration on the skins, without temperature control. The subsequent aging period takes place in French oak barrels of 10 and 25 hectoliters for a total of 4 years, after which the wine is bottled and further aged in glass.

The 'Mithas' Camerani - Corte Sant’Alda Valpolicella Superiore is an intense ruby red with garnet reflections. Aromas of cherry jam and raspberry characterize the complex nose along with notes of black pepper, chocolate, and sweet spices. The palate, elegant and structured, reveals a savory and very warm taste, with an extremely persistent finish.
