VALPOLICELLA SUPERIORE PODERECASTAGNE - CAMERANI 2019 DESCRIPTION

Marinella Camerani introduces Valpolicella Superiore "Poderecastagne", a refined product at the top of this style. The Podere Castagnè, located in the hamlet of the same name in the municipality of Mezzane di Sotto, is an agritourism estate owned by Marinella Camerani, a Veneto winegrower who is well known in the world of biodynamic viticulture. Surrounded by woods, meadows, vineyards, vegetable gardens and animals, the estate is teeming with biodiversity. The plants are located in an almost mountainous setting at the foot of the Lessinia, characterised by a cool climate and considerable daily temperature fluctuations, ideal prerequisites for the production of fine, fragrant wines.

Camerani's "Poderecastagne" Valpolicella Superiore is made from a blend of Corvinone, Rondinella and Corvina from 3.6 hectares of vineyards located in Pezza Castagnè. The vines, located between 420 and 550 metres above sea level, benefit from the abundant presence of limestone rocks in the soil and are cultivated according to organic and biodynamic farming principles. In the cellar, alcoholic fermentation is conducted solely by indigenous yeasts and occurs in truncated oak vats, with 15-20 days of contact between the must and the skins. The subsequent maturation process takes place for 24 months in 25-hectolitre oak casks.

In the glass, the Valpolicella Superiore "Poderecastagne" Camerani shows a luminous ruby red colour. The aromatic array recalls notes of flowers, cherries and other red fruits, enriched by seductive spicy and woody descriptors. To the palate it is clean, elegant and vertical, with a soft tannic texture that does not lack character. A sincere and pure expression of the appellation, skilful in reflecting the genuine values of its maker.
