Kuenhof's Veltliner is a beautifully balanced white wine of distinct aromaticity and minerality, aged in steel and large barrels. The soft, full, fresh, rich and harmonious sip is enriched by fragrant hints of flowers and white fruits, with savory and marine nuances
Amidst the imposing Alpine peaks of South Tyrol, on steep terraced slopes of the Isarco Valley, Kuenhof's Veltilner is born, a white wine characterised by an intense and mineral aromatic profile that reflects the virtues of the grape variety and the terroir. Due to the steep slopes of the vineyards, almost all agronomic operations carried out by the estate, from pruning to harvesting, must be performed by hand. Furthermore, the production approach is aimed at respecting the ecosystem, an objective pursued through the adoption of sustainable viticulture that excludes the use of herbicides, further enhanced by the study of the anthroposophical theories of Rudolf Steiner.
Kuenhof Veltliner Eisacktaler is a 100% Grüner Veltilner cultivated in the Kuenhof and Nafen locations, situated between 550 and 700 metres above sea level on clay and stony soils rich in minerals such as shale and quartz. The agronomic conduction adopted is based on the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, while the climate is sunny, with summers characterised by significant temperature swings between day and night. Following manual harvesting, the grapes are transferred to the cellar for gentle pressing, followed by alcoholic fermentation of the must in stainless steel tanks. The subsequent maturation phase takes place on the fine lees between stainless steel and large acacia casks and lasts for several months, without malolactic fermentation.
To the eye, Kuenhof's Grüner Veltilner Eisacktaler displays a bright straw-yellow colour with emerald highlights. Vivid fruit and floral sensations of fresh flowers, peach and pear introduce the olfactory range, accompanied by notes of yeast, mown grass and white pepper. The palate is well balanced between softness and freshness, with saline mineral hints completing the taste context.
