VERDEJO 'EL CARRASCAL' ESMERALDA GARCIA 2021 DESCRIPTION

The Verdejo "El Carrascal" by Esmeralda Garcia originates north of Madrid, precisely in Segovia. Emeralda Garcia has completed her studies in enology, and done internships in wineries in her area of origin to learn the art of winemaking, an art that she applies daily in her own business: her goal is to convey the qualities and beauty of her native land, intervening as little as possible in the vineyard and in the processing of grapes for a product that tells the history of the its territory.

The vineyards of the Verdejo grapes of the "Arena de Santyuste" of Esmeralda Garcia are located about 900 meters above sea level on mainly sandy soils, characteristics that allow plants not to be invaded by phylloxera, insect that in the second half of the nineteenth century invaded European crops destroying many vineyards. The rows cultivated by Esmeralda are in fact bicentenary, because they survived the insect unkown at the time. The climate is characterized by hot and sultry summer and cold winters with substantial temperature changes between day and night. The harvest is manual; in the cellar there is a light maceration on the skins of the must and alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Bottling takes place without any filtration or addition of chemicals.

The Verdejo "El Carrascal" by Esmeralda Garcia has a straw yellow colour with coppery reflections; the nose releases a range of aromas with notes of candied fruit, aromatic and spicy. In the mouth there is freshness, minerality and pleasing persistence on the finish. It goes perfectly with grilled fish and shellfish, stewed white meat and fresh cheeses. Product that reflects the beauty and tradition of the land thanks to the painstaking work of a wine craftswoman that every day works respecting nature and the gifts it has to offer.
