VERDICCHIO CASTELLI DI JESI SUPERIORE 'VECCHIE VIGNE' UMANI RONCHI 2022 DESCRIPTION

Verdicchio Casal di Serra Old Vineyards by Umani Ronchi is one of the greatest interpreters of this type of wine, very widespread among the hills of Marche. Since the beginning of its production history, Umani Ronchi winery has emerged as a proper reference point for Verdicchio, through a rigorous agricultural sperimentation, careful attention to its own vineyards and the adoption of advanced techniques in cultivation and winemaking. Currently the property under vine owned by Umani Ronchi covers a total area of 200 hectares, distributed in 10 separate plots, respecting the differences of the terroir and the most important grape varietiesof Marche such as Verdicchio. The enhancement of this latter variety by Umani Ronchi began in the mid-80s, with the construction of extraordinary crus, able to compete with the big Italian white wines, first of all with Casal di Serra Old Vines. The vineyard Busche, which this exclusive Verdicchio comes from, was reassembled in a single property in the late '70s, after long negotiations with small producers of the area: in 2004 some replanting of vineyards followed the decision to keep intact 10 hectares of vines which, whilst providing the historical memory of the company, give every year the grapes for Verdicchio Casal di Serra Old vines. The particular position and the vegetative-productive balance of the old vines, planted in the early '70s, allow to collect the grapes when they reach a slight degree of over-ripening. The long period of aging, first in concrete tanks in contact with native yeasts and later in the bottle, gives to this Verdicchio special characteristics of fullness and authenticity, recognized by the majority of the wine-guides with the most longed for awards.

Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar

Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied white wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
