The Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico 'Solustro' from the Casalfarneto estate is a bottle that is appreciated for its genuine simplicity, an element that makes this Verdicchio suitable for everyday drinking. The 'Solustro' is part of the 'La Donna di Bacco' line, a selection of wines conceived by the Casalfarneto winery for catering and wine-tasting in wine shops. The appellation 'Solustro' derives from a term used in central Italy to indicate the glare of the sun, a reference to the fact that the grapes used to produce this wine come from particularly sunny hillside vineyards located in the historical Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi area.
Casalfarneto 'Solustro' Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico is an expression of pure Verdicchio grapes grown in well-exposed hillside vineyards. The harvest is usually carried out between the end of September and the beginning of October and is followed by a traditional white vinification process that involves the gentle pressing of the grapes and the subsequent alcoholic fermentation of the must in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Again in stainless steel, the wine is left to age for a few months and after a further brief rest in the bottle, it is finally ready for definitive release.
On visual inspection, Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Casalfarneto 'Solustro' displays a pale straw-yellow hue with typical greenish highlights. The nose expresses notes of peach, lemon, pineapple and wisteria that are accompanied by hints of fresh almond and aromatic herbs. The balance on the palate is excellent between soft body and lively freshness, with a pleasant finish and good persistence in which the fruit and almond notes of the nose return.
