The Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore 'Palombare' is a label with a strong territorial breath, produced with grapes from a single vineyard located in contrada Palombare in Sasso di Serra San Quirico, in the western part of the denomination. The area's high altitudes and proximity to the Apennine chain determine an average cooler microclimate and more significant temperature ranges than the rest of the Castelli di Jesi area. This is the basis of the brilliant freshness and rich aromatic heritage of this Verdicchio, strongly linked to the characteristics of the cru to which it belongs.
Campanelli Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore 'Palombare' is a 100% Verdicchio from grapes grown according to organic farming principles in the Palombare vineyard, with plantings dating back to 1955 and 1991. Here, the altitudes are between 330 and 370 metres above sea level and the soil is of medium consistency, characterised by the presence of clay, limestone and sandy interspersions. Once ripe, the grapes are hand-picked into crates and briefly chilled before soft pressing. The flower must obtained is left in cold static decantation and subsequently undergoes alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature. The mass then matures for 7 months in cement and steel tanks on the lees, with frequent batonnage, followed by at least 2 months of further ageing in the bottle.
Campanelli's Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Verdicchio 'Palombare' has a brilliant straw yellow colour with greenish highlights. The nose expands on floral and herbaceous perceptions, enhanced by mineral notes and hints of lemon and almond. In the mouth, it is taut, fresh and dynamic, marked by a pleasant sapidity.
