The Vermentino "Cala Silente" from Santadi is a young, light and ready-to-drink white wine. Aromatic notes of broom, myrtle and juniper animate a smooth and citrusy profile, smooth, refreshing and very pleasant
Santadi Vermentino di Sardegna, "Cala Silente," was born in Santadi in the province of Carbonia-Iglesias in the southernmost part of the Sardinian island. The winery began operations in 1961 at the behest of a group of winemakers who shared the project of transforming their grapes to produce quality wine and enhance their territory of origin. Coordinated by ETFAS, they began in the 1980s to produce bulk wine, but it was not until the arrival of Antonelli Pilloni that production took off and the products were placed in the most important markets, so much so that today the brand is among the most appreciated in the world.
The vineyards of Vermentino di Sardegna "Cala Silente" in Santadi have the best possible exposure, as they look southeast with a constant presence of sunlight between the rows, which is important for the grapes to reach full ripeness. The soil is mainly composed of clay and sand for an elegant final product with a structure of character; the climate is mainly characterized by very hot and sultry summers and mild winters, thanks to the influence of sea breezes. Grapes are harvested by hand, and the best bunches are selected in the winery. It ferments in steel and then ages in cement tanks in contact with its own yeasts for greater final roundness.
Santadi's Vermentino di Sardegna "Cala Silente" presents itself in the glass as a straw yellow with bright reflections tending to green-gold. The bouquet of aromas recalls apple, white peach and pleasant citrusy hints; on the palate, it is elegant, fine and enveloping, with a final balance given by the freshness that recalls cup after cup. In pairing, it is recommended with steamed fish dishes, shellfish and crustaceans; also interesting with white meats flavoured with spices. Excellent for pleasant aperitifs by the sea at sunset to enjoy in the company of friends a wine that encapsulates the authentic flavours of one of our beautiful islands.
