VERMENTINO DI GALLURA 'VIGNA 'NGENA' CAPICHERA 2023 DESCRIPTION

Vermentino di Gallura 'Vigna 'Ngena' constitutes a fascinating and fragrant interpretation of the work of the Sardinian winery Capichera. This winery represents one of the excellences of Gallura, a territory whose affirmation it has strongly contributed to, becoming a point of reference for oenology throughout Sardinia. In the Gallurese dialect, the expression "vigna 'ngena" means "other people's vineyard," in reference to the fact that in the 1990s, when the first vintage of this wine was released, the grapes came from vineyards under conduction while waiting for the productive maturity of the new plantings owned by the winery.

Capichera Vermentino di Gallura 'Vigna 'ngena' is a pure Vermentino grown on the rocky hillsides that characterize Gallura, which originated from the disintegration of granite rocks. Here, the plants, guyot-trained without the use of pesticides and other synthetic chemicals, benefit from the Mediterranean climate traversed by intense salty winds. Following the harvest, which takes place indicatively between the end of August and the beginning of September, the grapes are transferred to the winery for classic white vinification, with alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The ensuing maturation phase also takes place in steel, a container in which the wine rests for several months before bottling.

Capichera's 'Vigna 'ngena' Vermentino di Gallura has a straw-yellow hue with greenish highlights. Intense aromas of orange blossom, iris, broom and hawthorn define the olfactory landscape, supported by fruity hints of yellow apple and vivid iodine mineral puffs. The taste is fresh and juicy, endowed with a definite savoury streak that accompanies the long fruity finish that invites new tastings.
