Insulae's Vermouth 'Mediterraneo' is a blend of Marsala aged at least 12 months in oak barrels and herbs and spices such as artemisia, gentian and orange. Created with the intention of celebrating the Mediterranean roots of its land of origin, it is a high quality product, ideal to drink straight with ice or to mix to make delicious cocktails
The 'Mediterraneo' Vermouth by Insulae represents the entirely Sicilian interpretation of the most famous aromatized wine of Piedmontese origin. The very name of the label expresses the intention of the young production entity Insulae Spirits to celebrate the proud Mediterranean origin of this aromatized wine. In fact, since the inception of the Insulae project in 2019, the goal has been to promote the island and Mediterranean spirit of Sicily through the production of spirits and other alcoholic beverages with a highly territorial character. Sicilian culture is a very complex and varied one, the result of numerous cultural contaminations experienced by the island, which have contributed to shaping its identity, an identity celebrated by the 'Mediterraneo' Vermouth.
Insulae 'Mediterraneo' Vermouth is produced from a base of Marsala Fine Semisecco wine aged for at least 12 months in oak barrels and infused with herbs and spices such as artemisia, gentian, bitter orange, and cinnamon. The entire process does not involve the use of any coloring, natural or artificial.
The color of Insulae Spirits' 'Mediterraneo' Vermouth is warm amber and clear. The range of aromas spans from floral sensations of artemisia and gentian to citrusy hints of bitter orange from Catania, sweet traces of raisin and walnut, deep spicy nuances of cinnamon, and toasted touches of precious woods. In the mouth, this vermouth is rich and soft, intense and complex, with a long persistence consistent with olfactory perceptions. It is recommended to enjoy the 'Mediterraneo' Vermouth with two ice cubes and a twist of orange peel, or to use it in mixology to bring a distinctly Sicilian character to the most classic vermouth-based cocktails, such as the Negroni and the Americano.
