'W...DREAMS' JERMANN 2022 DESCRIPTION

"Jermann's 'W...Dreams' represents one of the iconic labels of this famous Friulian winery, which has been among the protagonists of the international affirmation of the great Collio whites. It is a pure Chardonnay of remarkable richness and expressive maturity, made in the Burgundian style, which combines the classic floral and fruity notes of the variety with sensations of vanilla and tertiary aromas, typical of ageing in wood. Its original name is the result of a long journey, inspired by the song 'Where the streets have no name' from the album 'The Joshua Tree' by U2. The first vintage was labelled "Where the Dreams have no end..." then "Were Dreams, now it is just wine!" to arrive in 2003 at its current name.

Jermann's 'W...Dreams' wine comes from one of the most important estates in the Collio area of Gorizia. The Jerman family has been cultivating vineyards since the end of the 19th century and produces wines that know how to interpret the territory with a modern style that is open to experimentation. The wine comes from the Ruttars estate, located near Dolegna del Collio, which extends over some twenty hectares. This is one of the most suitable areas in the region due to its temperate climate and considerable temperature fluctuations. Sunny days and mild breezes from the Adriatic Sea alternate with cool air currents that descend from the Julian Pre-Alps, refreshing the nights. The soils are composed of a sedimentation of sandstones and calcareous marls, which originated in the marine environment. These are poor, stony soils that are not very fertile and force the vines to dig down deep with their roots in search of water and nutrients. The best Chardonnay grapes selected in the vineyard are pressed very gently. After fermentation, the wine matures for about a year in small 300-litre French oak barrels.

Jermann's white 'W...Dreams' is a top-class Chardonnay, which confirms how well the Burgundy grape variety has acclimatised to the terroir of Collio, yielding great wines. Because of its characteristics, it is particularly suitable to be enjoyed with important fish dishes, even in sauce, or with white meats or cheeses of short or medium maturation. It is light yellow in colour with light golden hues. Elegant and intense, it expresses a bouquet characterised by aromas of ripe yellow fruit, floral hints, soft nuances of tropical fruit, notes of vanilla and small pastries. Well-structured, it has a broad and rich sip, with complex and persistent aromas that accompany a harmonious, fresh and savoury finish.
