White '18 Settembre' is the new label that celebrates the tradition and vision of the Dettori family, the iconic winery of the artisanal movement. It is an authentic, aromatic wine of strong territoriality that conquers with its hints of ripe yellow fruit and Mediterranean herbs. A real gem that tells of the Sardinian land in a genuine and sincere manner!
The White '18 Settembre' is the latest addition to the Dettori winery, a pure Vermentino capable of masterfully combining structure and dynamism while maintaining the distinctive character of the winery's wines. The name '18 Settembre' represents a dedication by Alessandro Dettori, the biodynamic winemaker at the helm of the estate, to his father Paolo, who passed away in 2022. One of Paolo's last bequests, born on 18 September, was the planting of a Vermentino vineyard, the single vineyard from which the grapes destined for this label come. Not an easy planting due to the considerable presence of limestone in the soil, a factor that contributes to the vibrant mineral component of '18 Settembre'.
White Dettori '18 Settembre' is made exclusively from Vermentino grapes grown in a single young vineyard, bush-trained on soil characterised by the presence of marl and limestone, with a clay texture and a particular abundance of white stones. The altitude is between 200 and 220 metres above sea level while agronomic management is based on the dictates of biodynamics, a cornerstone of the Dettori family for over 20 years. Following manual harvesting, the grapes are vinified with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation associated with a brief skin maceration, excluding the use of any additives and oenological aids. The entire process takes place in cement tanks and the wine is finally bottled without undergoing any clarification or filtration process.
In the glass, Tenute Dettori's White '18 Settembre' reveals a sunny golden yellow hue. The complex aromatic bouquet offers hints of citrus peel, ripe apple, white fig, broom flowers, wild fennel and almond, all supported by a strong brackish mineral vein. The progression on the palate is consistent, with a solid savouriness and important structure, with a balanced and surprisingly smooth finish that rests on a remarkably persistent mineral finish.
