With a keen eye towards sustainability, the Abruzzo winery Ausonia offers labels that faithfully reflect the excellent viticultural vocation of its territory, celebrated exclusively through those grape varieties that have written the history of Abruzzo winemaking. We are in the municipality of Atri, in the province of Teramo, where in 2008, spouses Simone and Francesca undertook this viticultural project with passion and enthusiasm, intending to create wines that are not only good but are also identity-bound to the land and its people. He takes care of the agronomic and oenological aspects, while she is responsible for the administrative and commercial part. The symbol of the estate is the Euchloe Ausonia, a species of butterfly very rare in the rest of Italy but widespread in the Atri area, emblematic of a viticultural approach in harmony with nature, as well as the strong bond between the winery and the region.

There are approximately 12 hectares of vineyards at Ausonia, with the plants benefiting from the concomitant influence of the Gran Sasso Massif and the nearby Adriatic Sea. In this geographical context, at an altitude of about 270 meters, the microclimate is characterized by cool summer breezes and significant temperature fluctuations between day and night. After initially resorting to conventional agriculture and later transitioning to organic, Simone and Francesca realized that the only way to protect the land and produce a living wine was to embrace the principles of biodynamics. Montepulciano, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, and Pecorino are the varieties cultivated by Ausonia, vinified respecting their intrinsic character. The use of auxiliaries and oenological additives is therefore excluded, and the aim is to follow the spontaneous process that characterizes the transformation of grapes into wine.

The Ausonia winery exclusively produces single-varietal labels capable of expressing the essence of the grape and the territory. Whether it's Cerasuolo, Montepulciano, Trebbiano, or Pecorino, Ausonia's bottles reflect the purest character of these renowned wines from Abruzzo.
