Domaine Fourrier is located in Gevrey-Chambertin, a small, legendary village in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, situated between Fixin and Morey-Saint-Denis. Its origins date back to the 1930s, when Fernand Pernot created a small estate in one of the most prestigious terroirs in all of Burgundy. The small family domaine passed from generation to generation, until it took on its current name of Domaine Fourrier. Today, the total surface area of the estate extends over some ten hectares, divided into numerous parcels, located in the prized crus in the communal territories of Gevrey- Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-St.-Denis. Thanks to a profound knowledge of the terroir and an extraordinary culture in the field of vinification and ageing, Domaine Fourrier is able to produce wines of excellent quality.

The Gevrey-Chambertin area is among the most famous in Burgundy. The vineyards are located at an altitude between 280 and 380 metres above sea level, facing east and south-east. The prestigious Premier Cru vineyards occupy the highest part of the Côte, which has the best exposure to the sun and the most ventilation, which always guarantees optimum ripening of the grapes. The soils are predominantly calcareous-clayey, characterised by the presence of dark limestone in the higher areas and marl with silt and marine fossils in the lower areas. The particular soil and climate conditions of the area have always proved perfect for growing Pinot Noir, which expresses itself with particular finesse and elegance in Gevrey-Chambertin.

The personality of Pinot Noir from Gevrey-Chambertin is the synthesis of the age-old interaction between a grape variety of great nobility and fine soils. Domaine Fourrier cultivates its vines in harmony with nature, seeking to preserve the fertility of the soil and the biodiversity between the rows, so that healthy, genuine and aromatic grapes can be brought to the harvest. The vinification processes are still followed with artisanal care, trying to intervene as little as possible, thanks to a light oenology that is very respectful of the raw material. Ageing takes place using oak barrels, in accordance with the ancient customs of the region.
