Gosset Brabant

The Gosset family is one of the oldest family to produce Champagne in AY, a small town of 5,000 souls, near Epernay, in the Champagne-et-Marne. The modern winery was founded in 1930, right in front of Bollinger, a sacred monster of Champagne, when Gosset Gabriel decides to start his own business and, to distinguish his winery of "Récoltant-manipulant" from that of a Gosset "negociant" , just two blocks from his Maison, he adds to his name the surname of his wife: Andrée Brabant. The Maison owns about 25 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Ay, Chuilly, Avenay Val d'Or, Mareuil-sur-Ay and Dizy, all grown according to the principles of organic farming and all favorably exposed to the south on the hills wet by the Marne. The varieties planted are the three classic grapes of Champagne: Pinot Noir, which is responsible of 70% of the total production, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, grown in the "cote de blancs" in the small cru Chuilly. Almost the entire production of Gosset-Brabant is sold directly to individuals and to some restaurants in France, only a thousand bottles are sold abroad.
