Since 1972 the maison de Cognac Léopold Gourmel has established itself worldwide for the high quality and the pioneering authenticity of its production. Embracing the respect for the environment and the desire for innovation, the maison has always boasted unique selections of this fine French brandy, whose origins date back to the 17th century. The artisan Gourmel culture has long roots and is represented both in its name and in its trademark: in fact, the founders, Pierre Voisin and Olivier Blanc, wanted to dedicate their home to the beloved Voisin's grandfather, Léopold Gourmel, a horse saddler by profession, a nature lover, a quality teacher and the owner of vineyards and Ile de Ré, an island off the coast of La Rochelle in the Atlantic Ocean. In 1993 the reins of the company passed to Monsieur Blanc, whose choices led to a major renovation. What distinguishes the maison Gourmel is the vision of a natural cognac, as shown by its “Age du fruit”, “Age des fleurs”, “Premières Saveurs” and, of course, its “Bio Attitude”. The bunches of white grapes have their time to mature and get stronger, get rich in minerals and aromas, without any use of pesticides, additives or chemicals. The spirits, aged in French oak casks, are called “pure vintage”, having been made from wines of the same year. They are also “non chill-filtered”, since they have not been frozen, otherwise their aromatic bouquet would have been removed. In these golden spirits, every amateur de bon cognac can savor characteristics of nobility, refinement and elegance, promises of new flavors and moments of passion.
