Domaine Jean Chartron is a historic winery in Burgundy, present in the lands of Puligny-Montrachet since as far back as 1859. For five generations, the Chartron family has been cultivating vineyards and producing wine in one of the most prestigious areas of the Côte de Beaune, world-famous for the excellence of its extraordinary Chardonnays. The origins of the village of Puligny-Montrachet date back to Gallo-Roman times, when it was known as Puliniacus and had already been vined by Roman legionaries. However, its real history in the field of viticulture began in 1095, when Pope Urban II ratified the donation of some valuable church lands to the Abbey of Cluny. Patient care by the monks and the presence of the prestigious Court of the Dukes of Burgundy contributed to the qualitative growth of viticulture in the region, which soon began to produce great wines.

The estate is currently managed by Jean-Michel et Anne-Laure, who manage a vineyard park of extraordinary value, divided into many parcels, located in the best terroirs of the Côte de Beaune et de la Côte Chalonnaise, particularly in Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Rully, Hautes Côtes de Beaune. The vineyards of Puligny-Montrachet are located at an altitude between 230 and 320 meters above sea level, facing east, on soils composed of limestone, calcareous marls, with the presence of clays and sands. The cool, breezy climate, protected from winds coming down from the north, creates an ideal habitat for the area's classic grape varieties. The property covers a total of 14.5 hectares and is managed with extreme care, as if it were a true family garden.

In the countryside, great attention is paid to the environment and the overall ecosystem, cultivating the vineyard in harmony with nature. The vineyards have an average age of about 40 years and are managed with a high planting density and low yields per hectare, so as to obtain few bunches per plant, but of excellent quality and aromatic concentration. Each individual plot is followed with meticulous attention, to enhance its peculiarities. The work in the cellar is also inspired by the same philosophy, based on a respect for traditions and meticulous application, with the sole objective of safeguarding the characteristics of a raw material of exceptional quality. According to the customs of the area, all wines are vinified and aged in French oak barrels within the Domaine's cellars, which guarantee optimal temperature and humidity conditions.
