Mandrarossa

Mandrarossa is the brand of excellence of Cantine Settesoli and collects the wines produced from the best selected vineyards in the area of Menfi, in the province of Agrigento. This is a brand that stands for quality, culture, experimentation, typicality and Sicilian expressiveness. Settesoli is a fine example of cooperation that works and is committed to promoting the territory. Founded in 1958 on the initiative of a number of local winegrowers, the winery now has around 2,000 members involved in the management and cultivation of often small, family-owned vineyards. The passion and the work of these winemakers, true custodians of the territory and of millenary agricultural traditions handed down from father to son, are the true heritage of this great production reality that has surprisingly succeeded in raising its important production volumes to excellence. It has thus succeeded in offering red and white wines with an excellent quality/price ratio.

The vineyards belonging to the cooperative winery cover about 6,000 hectares and include a vast variety of terrains and cultivations. The soil varies from sandy to clay and limestone and the vineyards extend from the hills to the sea, on what is known as the African Coast. Alongside the native vines, such as Gracanico and Nero d'Avola, international vines such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon have acclimatised perfectly, with excellent results. The vines are trained using the free-standing espalier system, with spurred cordon and Guyot pruning. The climatic conditions are ideal for vine cultivation: dry and arid climate, intense light, warm southerly winds and sea breezes, and significant temperature variations between day and night. These elements and the precise standards that must be followed by the members of the cooperative contribute to the production of elegant wines of exceptional quality, modern in style and intimately linked to their territory of origin.

Mandrarossa wines are the result of a special selection of the finest products and are destined exclusively for small-scale distribution. A careful mapping of the best soils, the choice of a small number of particularly meticulous wine growers and the selection of high profile expert enologists are the prerequisites from which the entire Mandrarossa range is born: wines that narrate a new and significant story of Sicilian wine.
