Morgante winery, founded in 1994 by Antonio Morgante and his sons Carmelo and Giovanni, is situated in the countryside of Grotte, not far from the splendid temples of Agrigento. The Morgante family resides in the area for five generations, which have always been devoted to viticulture. The area is beautiful, very charming, but certainly difficult to work with: the vineyards have a dry, clay and limestone ground and are located on the hills at an altitude that varies from 350 to 550 meters above sea level, with a typical Mediterranean climate: all of these factors are particularly favorable to the cultivation of vines. The Morgante family has chosen to grow one variety of grapes, Nero d'Avola, a native grape of Sicily, and from this to produce wines that are as close as possible to the expression of the terroir of Sicily. In 1997 he joined the famous oenologist Riccardo Cotarella with whom he began a fruitful collaboration in the vineyard and in the cellar, which results in a quantum leap in the production of wines: the experience of many generations coupled with technology innovations lead to excellent results. In a short time the hard work and persistence of Antonio and his sons are rewarded with the production of great wines.
