The grand castle of Schloss Lieser, built in 1885 by the wealthy entrepreneur Eduard Puricelli, stands as one of the most magical and captivating architectures in the entire Moselle Valley. For decades, it served as the residence for Europe's wealthiest and most influential families. Today, thanks to the work of Thomas Haag, it has become one of the most important and prestigious producers of Moselle Riesling.

As early as 1904, the Schloss Lieser castle, then owned by Baron von Schorlemer-Lieser, became the cradle of great Rieslings, attracting visits from Emperor Wilhelm II on multiple occasions. After decades of neglect, the castle returned to its former glory starting with the 1992 vintage, thanks to the viticultural project of Thomas Haag, the son of one of the most celebrated Moselle Riesling producers: Fritz Haag.

The vineyards of Schloss Lieser cover 13 hectares and include prestigious parcels such as Niederberg Helden, with its soil composed of blue slate, as well as Juffer Sonnenuhr and Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr. The viticultural approach is minimally interventionist, while in the cellar, fermentations take place both in wood and stainless steel, without the addition of yeast. The resulting Rieslings are known for their naturalness, spontaneity, as well as a rocky minerality and intricate aromatic richness that make them extraordinarily complex, articulate, kaleidoscopic, and wonderful.
