The Tenuta Casadei winery is located in the town of Suvereto, in the inland area of the Etruscan Coast, which is a very suitable area for the cultivation of red grapes. It is a special project that brings together the Tuscan Stefano Casadei and Californian Fred Cline in a common passion for good wine, creating a sort of fusion between the typically Italian tradition and the American style of the Sonoma Valley. Over dinner, the two producers got to know each other and discovered that they had many ideas about viticulture, vineyard care, soil care and their favourite grape varieties in common. This led to the concept of bringing together the experience of producers from regions of the wine world that are geographically very far apart but that share the same philosophy.

The idea of Tenuta Casadei stems from the common desire to produce great wines from international grapes in the Suvereto area, in the upper Maremma region of Tuscany. The vineyards are located in an unspoilt natural setting, among cypresses, maritime pines, cork trees and olive trees. The climate is warm and sunny, with good temperature variations, which are always mitigated by the breezes of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The estate covers 16 hectares, with vines grown on gentle slopes at an altitude of about 50 metres above sea level. It is an ideal area for international red grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. The suitable lands and the particular climatic conditions ensure excellent ripening of the grapes, with rich and intense aromas.

The vineyards of Tenuta Casadei are located in two different areas, one near the mountain and one near the valley. The first is characterised by medium-textured soils, which are rich in iron minerals, and is particularly suitable for the classic Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. The other part of the property, on the other hand, has soils of alluvial origin and is perfect for growing Rhone Valley grapes such as Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Muscat. The vines are cultivated using Bio-integral methods, with the utmost respect for nature and the land. The work is carried out using horses, in order to avoid compacting the soil and to encourage its spontaneous vitality. The use of chemical substances is banned among the vines, and great care is taken to limit intervention on the plants to a minimum, encouraging the development of a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna. The winery's aim is to harvest healthy grapes and produce genuine wines that are an authentic reflection of the terroir.
