Weingut Mann constitutes a German winery that stands out for its artisanal and sustainable winemaking spirit. We are within the municipality of Eckelsheim, in the western part of the Rheinhessen wine-growing region, where Andreas Mann, the young owner of the winery, is committed to enhancing the territory by interpreting it in the most sincere way possible. After finishing his business studies, Andreas decided to take the reins of the family estate, in business since as far back as 1699, imprinting production from the very beginning on non-invasive winemaking processes. The agronomic approach is holistic, aimed at identifying the natural cycles of the plants by working in harmony with them, then allowing the wines the time they need for optimal maturation.
The 10 hectares of vineyards belonging to Weingut Mann are managed following the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. Characteristic of Eckelsheim's soils is the abundant presence of volcanic porphyry, rocks that are also found in the walls of Andreas Mann's underground cellar. Many soils, on the other hand, consist of limestone rocks. On these different soil types Andreas raises Riesling, Sylvaner, Muller-Thurgau, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Dornfelder. Harvests are carried out strictly by hand, while in the cellar fermentations are conducted exclusively by indigenous yeasts, with the wines aged mostly in large oak barrels. Throughout the process, the masses undergo no clarification or filtration, often not even sulfite additions.
Weingut Mann's production includes both single-varietal expressions and blends, resulting in white, red and orange wines of impressive authenticity. Andreas' scrupulous and perfectionist character emerges in the cleanliness and finesse of his wines, which are intended to give voice to the terroir where they are produced.
