Worthy Park is a rum produced in Saint Catherine, Jamaica, on an estate dated 1670 in the heart of the island, sixty kilometers north of Kingston. Run by only three families in 340 years, since its foundation has produced rum, which is why it can be considered one of the oldest distilleries still operating in the world. In the years following the Second World War, however, due to over-production of rum on the island and the subsequent devaluation of the Jamaican spirit, many distilleries as the Worthy Park were forced by regulation to cease the production of rum. However, between 2004 and 2005 Worthy Park has decided to re-enter in the market with an extensive modernization work.
The distillery, which is also a sugar factory, produces rum in pure Jamaican style: owned molasses are subjected to two types of fermentation, Light and Heavy, depending on the yeast used in oak vats. Distillation is carried through a copper pot still, produced by Forsyths in Scotland, offering as result a rare and pure Jamaican rum. Among its products, we recommend the excellent "Gold", a rum aged 4 years in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels, by the great character and personality, with notes of fresh fruit, spices and cinnamon. A great rum for all fans.
