MAURIZIO ZANELLA CA' DEL BOSCO 2019 DESCRIPTION

Maurizio Zanella red is a classic Bordeaux blend, intense, powerful and elegant, produced in the lands of Franciacorta. Following the territory's oldest tradition, before the development of the Metodo Classico culture, Ca' del Bosco has created a prestigious autographed label to pay proper homage to the winery's founder. International red grapes, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, have been present for centuries on the rolling moraine hills of Franciacorta, where they have found a suitable environment to reach the right degree of ripeness, thanks in part to the climate mitigated by the presence of nearby Lake Iseo.

Ca' del Bosco, to make Maurizio Zanella wine, uses a selection of grapes from the best plots on the estate. The blend consists of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), grown in Erbusco, Merlot (25%) from Cazzago San Martino and Cabernet Franc (25%) harvested in Passirano. These are historic vineyards over 30 years old, particularly suited for the production of grapes for red winemaking. Harvests are manual, with selection in the vineyard of only the best bunches, which are then brought to the winery in small crates. The grapes are vinified separately, respecting the different ripening times of the three varieties. After destemming, temperature-controlled fermentation begins, with maceration on the skins lasting about 20 days and frequent pumping over and punching down. After racking, the wines are racked into new French oak barrels. The blend is then created, and the Maurizio Zanella continues maturation in wood for about 12 months before being bottled. Each bottle leaves the cellar numbered to ensure the exclusive quality of the wine and its traceability.

This label dedicated to Maurizio Zanella is the perfect synthesis of the Cantina's history, its values of excellence and the vocation of the Franciacorta territory to produce also great reds for ageing. A Bordeaux blend with a strong personality and character, among the most interesting Italian expressions of this type of wine. In the glass, it has an intense ruby-red colour. The bouquet expresses the aromas of small berries, blackberry and blueberry jam, spices, and woody and balsamic hints. The palate has an important structure with deep aromas, a tannic texture well integrated with the body of the wine and pleasant freshness.
