"Zero," the Alta Langa from Enrico Serafino winery, is certainly a name to remember in the Alta Langa Docg panorama. This appellation, recognized in 2010, was born from the cultural need to re-evaluate areas devoted to the cultivation of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines. By imposing very high quality requirements, the Alta Langa DOCG soon became a reference in the world of made-in-Italy bubbles. The winery is a historical reality present since the end of the 19th century that, in addition to producing the classic wines of Roero and Langhe, has launched itself in recent years also on sparkling wines, with great passion and absolutely remarkable results.
Alta Langa "Zero" Serafino is made mostly from Pinot Noir grapes, with a lower percentage of Chardonnay grapes. These come from three different vineyards, located between 400 and 550 meters above sea level on limestone and clay soils. After harvesting and selection, the grapes undergo soft pressing, and fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in steel tanks. Following the second fermentation in the bottle, they then spend 60 months resting in the bottle in contact with the yeasts, and no liqueur d'expedition is added, only the starting wine.
"Zero" by Enrico Serafino is a classic method sparkling wine with a lively and brilliant straw yellow color, with a fine and persistent perlage that is incredibly soft. The olfactory scents embrace a wide range, from floral linden scents to ripe white flesh fruit, passing through the sweet notes of honey to the fragrant notes of bread crust. Although the Enrico Serafino winery has belonged to the Campari brand for about a decade, one only has to visit the Canale location to see that this winery has an ancient history. The Alta Langa Zero is a pleasantly structured brut, with sweet and soft tones balanced by good acidity. For once even the "zero" has great value!
