The Enrico Serafino winery was founded as far back as 1878 and has managed to preserve to this day a family character that allows it to produce great wines with passion and craftsmanship. Enrico Serafino, coming from a family of landowners, decided to move to Canale, in the heart of the Roero region, when he was just over 20 years old to start a business producing the best wines of Piedmont. The winery has spanned the centuries, continuing to grow and expand to become one of the most important brands in the Langhe and Roero production area. In 2015, the Krause Gentile family took over the property, continuing to run the winery following the ancient traditions and embellishing the vineyard estate with the purchase of a beautiful vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba.
The real wealth lies in an estate of 60 hectares, all located within the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato area. The 25 hectares of estate vineyards are located Serralunga d'Alba, Canale and in the Alta Langa, to which are added another 35 hectares rented, but followed and controlled from an agronomic point of view directly by the winery staff. In the Serralunga d'Alba area, Enrico Serafino owns prized plots in the Briccolina, Meriame and Carpegna crus; in the Roero he can count on the vineyards of San Defendente, Oesio, Valpone located in Canale; and in Alta Langa he cultivates the vineyards of La Soprana, Pineta, Benso in Cerretto Langhe. Careful and nature-friendly practices are followed in the countryside to reduce the environmental impact of viticulture. Thanks to a timely weather station system, treatments are kept to a minimum and applied only where it is really necessary.
Enrico Serrafino has preserved an artisanal approach to the world of wine, which translates into attention in the vineyard and simple, rigorous winery practices. Respect for tradition and sustainability of the winery's activities, are cornerstones of the winery's philosophy. The energy used comes only from renewable sources, water consumption is minimized, bottles are made with at least 65 percent recycled glass, and packaging with 70 percent recycled paper. Since 2019, the Enrico Serafino winery has adhered to the Viva regulation specification of the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Protection of Land and Sea. Harvests are carried out exclusively by hand and at optimal ripeness. This is followed by manual selection of the bunches of grapes on sorting tables before vinification to ensure the highest quality of the grapes. The result is a range of excellent wines: whites, reds and Metodo Classico.
