Amaro di Angostura

Amaro di Angostura is an artisanal herb and spice liqueur produced under the Caribbean sun. With an intense amber colour, it releases, on the nose, important aromas of sweet caramel, hints of lemon peel, spicy hints of cinnamon and final hints of chocolate. On the palate, however, it is the bitter notes of liquorice that prevail, making this bitter perfectly balanced with the more sugary side. Exotic and luxuriant, it can be drunk on its own as an end-of-meal digestive, but also as the basis for a refined and original cocktail

AMARO DI ANGOSTURA DESCRIPTION

With its intense and sweet aromas, Angostura's Amaro evokes the warm fragrances and flavors of Venezuela, the country where it is produced. The Caribbean brand Angostura boasts over two centuries of tradition, starting from 1824 when the first digestif was created by Johann Gottlieb Benjamin Siegert, a German-born surgeon who developed an elixir to medicate Simón Bolívar's soldiers. Since then, the history of the world's most famous bitter gradually unfolded, with Angostura expanding its product offerings over the decades.

Angostura Amaro reflects over 70 years of blending expertise at Angostura, showcasing a meticulous craft of blending. The ingredients used for this amaro include a wide selection of bittering spices and herbs, which are combined and left to infuse for 3 months in a solution of neutral alcohol.

Visually, Angostura Amaro presents an intense amber-yellow appearance with bronze hues. On the nose, it reveals rich and intense aromas of caramel, licorice, cinnamon, citrus peel, chocolate, and toasted sugar. The palate is warm and enveloping, well-balanced between sweet aromatic perceptions of melted caramel and cinnamon, and bitter notes of herbs, sensations that accompany the persistent and lush finish. Angostura suggests enjoying this amaro neat or on the rocks, as well as using it in mixology to prepare cocktails with a strong character. One popular option is to combine it with gin and vermouth, replacing Campari, to create an alternative version of the classic Negroni.
