ROERO ARNEIS 'LE RIVE DEL BRICCO DELLE CILIEGIE' ALMONDO 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Roero Arneis 'Bricco delle Ciliegie' from Giovanni Almondo's Piedmontese winery takes its name from the estate's small vineyard, which in the past was home to cherry trees, one of the crops that characterised the landscape of the Roero hills. It is one of the denomination's benchmark labels, particularly appreciated for its elegance and aromatic intensity. Thanks to careful craftsmanship, the best characteristics of this indigenous vine of the area, for a long time undervalued in favour of Nebbiolo and which today has finally carved out a place for itself among the great white wines of the Peninsula, are brought out.

"Bricco delle Ciliegie" is a Roero Arneis from the Almondo winery, one of the best known and most appreciated brands in the area, located on the other side of the Tanaro river, just opposite the Langhe. The Bricco delle Ciliegie label is the fruit of one of the estate's most vocated parcels, located in a hilly area, at an altitude between 340 and 370 metres above sea level, with an east and south-facing exposure. The mild climate, which is always very windy, and the rather light and loose soils, with a predominantly sandy matrix and the presence of clay, limestone and silt, provide an ideal habitat for growing white grapes. The Arneis grapes are gently pressed and the must ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Maturation lasts 7 months and takes place in steel tanks, except for a small part (5%), which matures in unroasted French oak barriques.

The white Roero Arneis 'Bricco delle Ciliegie', produced by Giovanni Almondo, is a fragrant, harmonious and pleasantly fruity wine, which will win over those in search of softness, richness and aromatic intensity. It presents itself in the glass with a light yellow colour with faint greenish reflections. Refined and elegant, it is distinguished by delicate aromas of orange blossom and acacia flowers, aromas of citrus peel, white pulp fruit and nuances of tropical fruit. Suave and rich on the palate, it has a juicy, limpid taste that leads to a savoury finish of balanced freshness. Excellent as an aperitif, with hors d'oeuvres or simple seafood dishes.
