Barbera d'Asti Superiore 'Madonna dei Monti' Tenuta Magrini 2022

Tenuta Magrini's Barbera d'Asti Superiore 'Madonna dei Monti' is a red wine that brings together tradition and innovation. It is produced using artisanal methods and matures for 18 months in barriques, techniques that bring finesse and rusticity into the same glass. Deep ruby in colour, it offers a complex bouquet of ripe black fruits, candied violets and an intriguing mentholated finish. The palate is rich and structured, with a balance of alcoholic warmth, delicate tannins and balsamic sensations. Very persistent, it goes well with savoury meat dishes

BARBERA D'ASTI SUPERIORE 'MADONNA DEI MONTI' TENUTA MAGRINI 2022 DESCRIPTION

Tenuta Magrini's Barbera d'Asti Superiore 'Madonna dei Monti' is a full and generous Barbera that is the result of an artisanal production philosophy. Barbera is the symbolic grape variety of Tenuta Magrini and of Monferrato, the territory in which the winery operates. Here, the couple Maura and Massimiliano officially started wine production in 2022 after taking over an old farmstead with adjoining woods and vineyards. In terms of communication, the two opted for a modern logo, depicting a wine goblet pictured from above. Returning to this label, this is the estate's most important Barbera, the result of long ageing in barriques.

'Madonna dei Monti' Tenuta Magrini Barbera d'Asti Superiore is a 100% Barbera from organically certified vines grown on hilly south-facing soils, located at an altitude of 350 metres above sea level and consisting mainly of calcareous marl. After the harvest, the grapes are vinified in red by means of spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks in contact with the skins and subsequent ageing for 18 months in oak barrels. During this long passage in oak, the wine acquires numerous tertiary aromas and 'softens' its taste. The mass is finally bottled without undergoing any clarification or filtration and with minimal added sulphites.

In the glass, Tenuta Magrini's Barbera d'Asti Superiore 'Madonna dei Monti' exhibits a dark and consistent ruby red coat. The olfactory panorama is described by notes of black fruits such as blackberry and plum, alternating with hints of blond tobacco and sweet tones of candied violet and cinnamon. The taste development is intense, warm and remarkably structured, well supported by juicy freshness and ripe tannin, elements that prelude the balsamic finish.
