BAROLO 'CANNUBI' GIACOMO BREZZA 2019 DESCRIPTION

Barolo Cannubi di Giacomo Brezza was born in Barolo in the beautiful province of Cuneo, the heart of the Piedmontese Langhe. The winery began its activity in 1885, complementing the management of the Brezza family's restaurant and hotel. The philosophy that guides the work is to make the most of the Nebbiolo vine, taking care of the work in the vineyard with accurate pruning and thinning. The choice has been made to fully embrace the dictates of organic farming, respecting tradition and combining it with innovation and modernisation, in order to bring out the best in the area's characteristics. Today the winery is managed by the fourth generation, who work with an eye always turned to the future.

The Barolo Cannubi di Giacomo Brezza vineyards extend over about 1.5 hectares. The exposure is south-east, ideal for the sun's rays to hit the rows steadily, guaranteeing excellent ripeness of the bunches at harvest time; the altitude is about 250 metres above sea level. The soil is mainly composed of silt and sand for an elegant and pleasant end product; the climate is continental with cold winters often characterised by snowfall and hot, sultry summers. Harvesting takes place in October; in the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and placed in fermenters. Alcoholic fermentation then takes place for 7-8 days and maceration with emerged cap with frequent pumping over. It matures in Slavonian barrels for about 2 years. It stays in the bottle for about one year.

The colour of Barolo Cannubi di Giacomo Brezza is an intense garnet red with brilliant reflections. The aromas released are reminiscent of undergrowth, wild violets and hints of tobacco on the finish; on the palate it is elegant, enveloping and pleasantly tannic with an important final freshness that balances everything, making for an inviting drink. In pairing, it is recommended with traditional Piedmontese red meat dishes cooked on the grill and in stews, local game and first courses with elaborate sauces; also ideal with mature cow's and sheep's milk cheeses. It accompanies the table at family feasts and celebrations on anniversaries and anniversaries, proving to be the perfect ambassador of the Piedmontese land.
