BAROLO 'RAVERA DI MONFORTE' PRINCIPIANO 2020 DESCRIPTION

Barolo "Ravera di Monforte" is a true champion, an extraordinary version of one of Monforte d'Alba's most vocated crus. What happens when you meet one of the best hands in the Langhe and one of the commune's plots capable of giving birth to lyrical and extraordinary liquids? The result is obviously explosive, and it is encapsulated in this label that has already become a must for wine lovers. Extraordinary characteristics of this celebrated vineyard, capable of combining the longevity and solidity typical of Monforte with floral flutters and finesse when interpreted by exceptional authors. Ferdinando's approach is always the same, which is to enhance the characteristics of the parcel while not overpowering its expressiveness, thanks to classic interpretations and non-interventionist viticulture. Without exaggeration, among the greatest reds in Italy.

"Ravera di Monforte" Barolo is made, as per the regulations, from pure Nebbiolo grapes from vines nearly fifty years old in the Ravera cru near Monforte d'Alba. In the vineyard, the focus is on low yields and any chemical or synthetic treatment is banned, while in the winery, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and 24-month ageing in large barrels are used. No clarification or filtration before bottling and minimal addition of sulfur.

Principiano's "Ravera" reveals itself in the glass with its unmistakable garnet colour, vivid and bright. The nose is a compendium of definition and classicism and leaves no doubt as to the liquid's provenance and class. Almost useless to speak of descriptors, although violets, rose hips, liquorice, and ripe red fruit are easily recognizable. Three-dimensional mouthfeel, combining volume, power, tannin, and extraordinary savoury lengthening. We are at the top.
