Bianco di Montepepe is undoubtedly one of the most interesting labels on the Tuscan Coast. It is a blend of Vermentino and Viognier, which surprises and conquers with elegance, intensity and immediate pleasantness. The vineyards are located on terraces supported by dry stone walls, which look out from the foothills of the Apuan Alps towards the Tyrrhenian Sea, in an area with a particularly mild and breezy climate, perfect for obtaining high quality grapes. It is a white capable of perfectly interpreting the place of production, combining mountain freshness with warm Mediterranean harmony. Fragrant and fruity, it is an ideal companion for a fish dinner.
Montepepe Bianco was born in a young estate in the area, which for the past 20 years or so has decided to recover very vocated land that was already cultivated with vines in past centuries. The estate is located in the beautiful landscape of Montignoso, just a few kilometres from the beaches of Versilia. The white comes from a majority base of Vermentino, a vine that has always been present in the border area between Liguria and Tuscany, which particularly likes the warm, dry and windy climate. The blend is complemented by Viognier, a variety native to the Rhone Valley, which expresses elegant, soft whites with an aromatic spectrum characterized by notes of ripe yellow fruit. The vines are cultivated in a beautiful hilly area with a southern exposure and characterized by sand-rich soils. After soft pressing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The wine matures in stainless steel for about 10 months before being bottled.
Bianco di Montepepe is the splendid expression of a land that has always had a vocation for the production of great whites with an intense, Mediterranean face. A synthesis of two noble solar grape varieties, it gives the emotion of a rich and ripe fruit, well supported by freshness and savoriness. To the eye, it is light yellow in colour with light golden hues. On the nose, it is intense and elegant, with a bouquet reminiscent of the scents of white flowers, citrus peel, fruity fragrances, nuances of thyme, rosemary, medicinal herbs, Mediterranean maquis herbs and a light touch of spices. The palate has a good body that is rich and enveloping, with ripe and harmonious fruit, closing with a finish of good aromatic persistence and pleasant mineral freshness.
